about

Powerhouse metal vocalist Norman Skinner (Niviane) has released his 1st solo material in 7 years with the single “Seven Angels”.

Vocalist Norman Skinner comments: “During the pandemic quarantine I had a lot of downtime as did most musicians. I had just finished recordings for my final Hellscream & Imagika albums and thought it would be fun to get together with a few of my friends and record a cover song or two. I had always been a fan of the band Crimson Glory and their former singer Midnight who sadly passed away in 2009.

In 2000, Midnight released a limited EP titled “Songs From The Attic” which consisted of a handful of acoustic tracks he had written including one called “Seven Angels”. Over the years I found myself singing it often and since Midnight’s passing always thought a fully flushed out electric version of the song would be a really nice tribute to one of the most unique and creative voices in Metal.

I worked with my guitarist Gary Tarplee (Niviane) on the guitars and structure then reached out to my old Imagika drummer Henry Moreno (Mind of Fury). Next, I brought Alex Tamas (Shaylon) in on bass as I had been wanting to collaborate with him for a while. Lastly, keyboardist Aaron Robitsch (Niviane, Graveshadow, Crepuscle) put the finishing touches on the track. The song was mixed and mastered by Brian Altman of Altman Studios in Brentwood, CA and it turned out much better than I could’ve anticipated.

The new album titled “The Dark Design” will feature 13 new tracks and is slotted for a 2022 release.

lyrics

Seven Angels

Twisted tongue and broken now
There we walk around and round
Arctic halls are drifting grey
Music that nobody plays

Ghosts of lovers kiss and tell
Drowning in the wishing well
Deep inside the strangest dream
Is it you who waits for me?

On a sidewalk going nowhere
Seven angels in the sky

Take a piece of my heart if you wanna leave me
Please don’t go
Take one of my wings if you wanna fly
Please don’t go
Take a few of the dreams we shared and keep them
Buried in the snow
Warm and safe beneath the snow

All for one and one for you
It doesn’t matter what you do
Deep Inside the strangest dream
Is not the safest place to be
Did you feel the shiny knife?
Running through your silent life
They say these arms are pure and light
But they cut so deep into the night

And the sidewalk is going nowhere
Seven angels in the sky

Take a piece of my heart if you wanna leave me
Please don’t go
Take one of my wings if you wanna fly
Please don’t go
Take a few of the dreams we shared and keep them
Buried in the snow
Warm and safe beneath the snow
There it ends beneath the snow

Then the sun came
Please don’t

Sidewalk is going nowhere
Seven angels in the sky

Take a piece of my heart if you wanna leave me
Please don’t go
Take one of my wings if you wanna fly
Please don’t go
Take a few of the dreams we shared and keep them
Buried in the snow
Safe beneath the snow
Then the sun came
Please don’t
Seven angels in the sky
Then the sun came
Please don’t
Seven angels in the sky
There’s seven angels in the sky
